Squirrel badge placement

The badges awarded on investiture are the membership badge (scout symbol on a purple background) which goes on the left breast and the group name tape, district badge and county badge which go on the right arm. See the diagram below for details of the badge placement.

Activity badges (round with a green background) and staged activity badges (round with a blue background) which go on the left arm. Staged activity badges are awarded at different levels, and if you earn a higher level then the new badge should replace the old one (old badges can be kept to be sewn onto a camp blanket).

You will also earn challenge badges (blue, hexagonal). These join together in a honeycomb pattern on the right breast, eventually culminating with the Acorn Chief Scout’s Award which goes above the challenge badges.

As you stay in Scouting, you will earn a Joining In Award for every year of membership. These go above the membership badge.

Sometimes you may get an occasional badge to mark a special occasion or event. These are worn above the membership badge and joining in awards, and for a limited amount of time (at the end of the specified time they should be taken off and can be sewn onto a camp blanket).
